Remel Offices Closed Dec. 24, Dec. 25, and Jan. 1

Remel, part of Thermo Fisher Scientific, will be closed on Thursday and Friday, December 24 and 25, in observance of the holiday. We will not ship orders Wednesday, December 23 through Friday, December 25. We will resume our normal business hours and operation on Monday, December 28th.

In addition, we will be closed on Friday, January 1, in observance of the New Year. We will not ship orders Thursday, December 31 through Friday, January 1. We will resume our normal business hours and operation on Monday, January 4.

New Tool to Update Iodine Registration Information

A new web tool was added to Remel.com today that allows customers who are authorized iodine purchasing agents to update their registered email, phone, and fax information. To speed up the process and ensure accuracy of the information, authorized agents can now submit changes to us directly from our website 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Remel Introduces New Saline 0.45% (3.0 ml in Plastic Tube)*

Lenexa, Kan., (May 21, 2009) – Thermo Fisher Scientific, the world leader in serving science, announced a new product, Saline 0.45% (3.0 ml) in a plastic tube with screw cap for use with automated ID/AST (identification/antimicrobial susceptibility test) systems, specifically the Vitek® 2, manufactured by bioMérieux, Inc. In addition, the company also announced the modification to an existing product, Saline 0.45% (1.8 ml), to be manufactured with the same plastic tube and screw cap. The 1.8 ml product is used with the legacy Vitek® system.

Remel VACC Agar is now available for primary, selective isolation of ESBL (Extended-Spectrum ß-Lactamase) producing Enterobacteriaceae. Spectra MRSA was one of six technologies chosen from a pool of 80 applicants to be part of the Comparative Innovation Program. Ribbon cutting in Lenexa celebrates growth and success of Microbiology division

Thursday, May 29, we hosted a ribbon cutting event to celebrate the recent expansion to our Lenexa Microbiology operation and to bring awareness to the local community that we are one of the area’s largest scientific employers. City and state government officials were present to acknowledge the importance of the event and to join with other local Bioscience leaders and business partners to tour the facility, network with each other, and celebrate the event with a representative set of employees. It was a wonderful opportunity to reach out to the local community and remind people that we are a great place to work and that we are doing great things to make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer through Microbiology.

Guidelines for Ordering Iodine Containing Products

The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) enacted a final rule requiring the regulation of iodine as a List 1 chemical under the chemical regulatory provisions of the Controlled Substances Act (the “Act”). The Act requires that all manufacturers and distributors confirm the "proof of identity" of persons making regulated purchases of List 1 chemicals including iodine containing products. "Proof of identity" requires that positive identification and authorization status be established for all persons making regulated purchases of List 1 chemicals.
